Guadalupe River
The Newcombe Estate is conveniently located just minutes away from an entry point to the Guadalupe River. On the Guadalupe River you can enjoy rafting, tubing, canoeing, kayaking and camping! The most often used section used for recreational activities is between Canyon Dam and New Braunfels. The Guadalupe River is one of the most visited rivers in Texas.
River tubing is one of the most popular activities you will find at the Guadalupe River. Admire the unique limestone banks of the Guadalupe River, shaded by bald cypress and pecan trees as you float in your inner tube down the river. Numerous outfitters, lodgings and entertainment can be found along the river. We recommend you shop around for what fits your family, friends and budget.
Canyon Lake
Noted as the Texas Hill Country Treasure, Canyon Lake Texas is a true treasure of the Texas Hill Country. Canyon Lake has eight Corps of Engineer Public Parks, 23 boat ramps, two marinas, campgrounds, golf course, country club, and yacht club. The lake has a surface area of 8,230 acres and 80 miles of shoreline. Canyon Lake releases water down stream into the famous Guadalupe River.
Wildlife such as white tailed deer, foxes, and roadrunners, is in abundance in the Texas Hill Country especially at Canyon Lake. Canyon Lake offers the typical water activities such as, boating, sailing, water skiing, kayaking, fishing, scuba diving, and para-sailing. Canyon Lake is located 30 minutes north, north west of New Braunfels.
The Natural Bridge Caverns
Just 30 minutes south from New Braunfels on I-35 will have you at The Natural Bridge Caverns. Discovered by 4 college students, the spectacular underground Natural Bridge Caverns lies beneath an amazing 60 foot natural limestone bridge between San Antonio and New Braunfels. Chamber after chamber of spectacular formations, one the size of a football field, towering columns, and emerald pools are there to amaze you.
The first 1/2 mile, the most spectacular part of the caverns, of the two miles of vast cavern passages discovered is open to tour. The deepest part of the public tour is 211 feet below the surface. Not for the faint hearted or claustrophobic but will truly astound you!
