Scott is back in New Braunfels after several years away. He first came to the area to work for John Newcombe at the Tennis Ranch and is now back working and living in New Braunfels as the Director of Tennis/Club Manager at John Newcombe Country Club. And he is off to a great start if the Members Appreciation Night and the recent Tennis Social are any indication!
To our benefit, Scott brings significant tennis and management experience with him. Scott is a native of Sydney, Australia and has been in America teaching and competing for the past 12 years. Scott serves as the National Director of Tennis for Cliff Drysdale Management (CDM), and most recently relocated from California where he ran tennis operations at 5 sport clubs managed by CDM.
Some of Scott’s career highlights include:
- Former top Australian Junior
- Played on the Futures tour
- Adult and camp director of John Newcombe tennis ranch
- Worked with top ATP/WTA players
- Coached 4 ALL Americans
- 10 years experience in directing clubs across the country
Scott journeyed 360° when he recently arrived back in New Braunfels. Grinning, Scott commented, “The house I lived in was cleared to build the Country Club… After traveling all over I have come back to my second home!” And with his old home gone he is looking forward to building the new Club.
The Newcombe Ranch has an international reputation for elite tennis. Scott is excited to be part of Newk giving back to the locally community and helping New Braunfels grow the sport of tennis. Already, a beginner “Tennis 101” class had 20 people jump at the chance to learn tennis basics at the Club. And several were so impressed with their experience that they quickly joined the Club as regular members.
Passion for sharing his love of tennis is evident in Scott. His eyes light up when he talks of providing such comprehensive fitness and lifestyle choices at Newcombe Country Club that New Braunfels has not previously had in one facility. “While the Country Club is a private club, it is not the stuffy environment we typical associate with private golf clubs; it is so much more! Starting with a first class club, beautiful amenities and quality service we then went further and added tennis, athletics and fitness,” states Scott. The John Newcombe Country Club brings the best aspects of different clubs together; the social and fitness aspect to enhance the total product, providing what he refers to as a “hybrid” club.
Scott is proud that the club offers 2 of 3, what are considered lifetime sports – swimming and tennis (with golf being the third). The Club will serve families for many years – for all ages. “There is a program here for everyone,” Scott shares. “We have a variety of fitness classes, tennis programs, swimming and the Kids’ Club.” He invites you to come spend the day at the Country Club with tennis, a workout, and swim and casually relax.
While all property owners in the John Newcombe Estate are members of the Country Club, there will be a limited number of outside memberships available. If interested in a tour of the John Newcombe Country Club please call the Director of Member Services, Dana Andis on 830.625.2005.

I have had the pleasure of attending all but one of the 23 Tennis Fantasy with the Legends camps since its inception in 1988. Scotty was one of the pros who was a part of the camp a number of years and was an outstanding coach and person. It is great to see him back at Newks as the Director of Tennis/Club Manager! Congratulations and good luck on your new position. I know you will do an outstanding job.
